MAJOR ROAD WORKS ON ANZAC HIGHWAY AT THE SOUTH ROAD INTERSECTION
May 29 – June 3 2009
AdelaideConnect wishes to advise the public that major road works to complete asphalt and kerbing works on ANZAC Highway will take place from Friday 29 May to Wednesday 3 June 2009.
TIMES, LOCATION AND TYPE OF ACTIVITES
Works will be undertaken each evening in off peak periods to minimise disruption to traffic. Times of work will be from 6pm until 6am each day.
Removal of old asphalt will take place on the evening of Friday 29 May between 68 ANZAC Highway to the Pine City corner on the south side of the Highway.
On the evenings of Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May, new layers of asphalt will be laid in this location.
On the evening of 1 June, the final wearing course (last layer of asphalt) will be laid on the northern side of ANZAC Highway, from the Home Ideas Centre corner to Waltham Street (approx).
On the evening of 2 June, works will cross back to the southern side of ANZAC Highway again to lay the final wearing course between 68 ANZAC Highway and the Pine City corner.
Temporary lighting will be installed on ANZAC Highway during all night works.
Residents living in close proximity to the works can expect to experience some minor noise disturbance at times, while works are in progress. The contractor, AdelaideConnect, will manage these works to minimise the impacts on local residents as much as possible.
ACCESS RESTRICTIONS
Access to property driveways on ANZAC Highway in the immediate vicinity of works will be restricted during the evenings that works are in progress, with the following EXCEPTION:
VIDEO BLOCKBUSTER ACCESS DURING NIGHT WORKS
- On Friday 29th May, during business hours i.e. up to 11pm, access into and out of the Video Blockbuster car park will be provided with traffic controller assistance.
- On Saturday 30th May, access will be provided to the Video Blockbuster car park up until 8pm only, on both nights.
- From 8pm until business closure on both Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May, temporary car parking for Video Blockbuster customers will be provided at the Home Ideas Centre car park, opposite Video Blockbusters. A temporary pedestrian crossing will be provided to ensure safe access to and from Video Blockbusters and the Home Ideas Centre car park.
- On Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 June – access to the Video Blockbuster car park will be available during all business operating hours, although on the evening of the 2 June, the access will be provided under traffic controller assistance.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS - ANZAC HIGHWAY
6pm Friday 29 May to 6am Monday 1 June
- No left turn from ANZAC Highway to South Road for south bound traffic
- No access across ANZAC Highway via South Road exit / entry ramps (south bound traffic only)
- Two through lanes to the City and one through lane to Glenelg.
6pm Monday 1 June to 6am Tuesday 2 June
- No right turn from South Road towards Glenelg
- No left turn from South Road towards the City
- No access across ANZAC Highway via South Road exit/entry ramps (south bound traffic only)
- One through lane to the City and two through lanes to Glenelg.
6pm Tuesday 3 June to 6am Wednesday 3 June
- No left turn from ANZAC Highway to South Road for south bound traffic
- No access across ANZAC Highway via South Road exit / entry ramps (south bound traffic only)
- Two through lanes to the City and one through lane to Glenelg.

BUSES
Buses that usually turn left from ANZAC Highway to head south on South Road will be diverted via Everard Avenue and through the Gallipoli Underpass from the last bus on Friday evening, 29 May through to Monday 7am, 1 June 2009. The buses will again be diverted via the Everard Avenue route from 6pm Tuesday 2nd June to 6am Wednesday 3rd June 2009.
Traffic controllers and prominent signage will be in place and a reduced speed limit of 25 kph will apply around the works area. Emergency Services and the Cities of West Torrens and Unley have been advised of these works and temporary changes to traffic arrangements.
