  • Works to build the northern half of the bridge deck are due to commence
  • Prior to starting this work, traffic currently travelling on the north western side of Anzac Highway needs to be shifted further over to the south western side of Anzac Highway.

When will this occur?

  • Preparation works to move the traffic over will commence from Tuesday 1st July.
    - Installation of temporary medians, new line marking and some asphalting works

  • Traffic switch on Anzac Highway is expected to occur on Sunday 6th July 2008 – progressively during line marking operations and fully implemented prior to Monday am peak hour.

  • On Saturday 5th July from 6am until completion and Sunday 6th July if required.
      - Traffic on Anzac Highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Selby Street Kurralta Park and Waltham Street Ashford.
      - Traffic on South Road will be reduced to two through lanes and one right turn lane in each direction at the intersection

  • No left hand turns will be available onto South Road (heading north) from Anzac Highway at the traffic signals. A slip lane for traffic to turn left from Anzac Highway near the Emergency Vet will be operational and traffic will merge back with South Road traffic heading north, near Tennyson Street These traffic arrangements will be permanent in accordance with the final design.
  • The Traffic Management Centre will continue to monitor the intersection signaling phases to minimize any traffic delays resulting from the works and changes to traffic conditions.
  • VMS signage alerting motorists to the changes in traffic will be in place on all approaches and speed limits will apply.

These traffic arrangements will be in placed until further notice, and at such time the northern half of the bridge deck is completed (estimated to be at the end of 2008 / early 2009).
