TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AT THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN
THURSDAY 6th AND SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2008

Traffic restrictions will be in place on ANZAC Highway and South Road near the intersection from Thursday 6th November 2008 until works are completed (weather permitting) on Sunday 9th November 2008, to complete the road widening works on ANZAC Highway and switch traffic onto its final alignment.

Work Activities and Traffic Restrictions:

  • Thursday 6th November from 9am to 3.30pm – removal of centre medians on ANZAC Highway and line marking works:

       Traffic Restrictions

  • One lane of traffic in both directions will be closed on ANZAC Highway between Waltham Street and Selby / Grosvenor Streets.


  • Friday 7th November from 9am – complete the removal of the traffic barriers on the north-western side of ANZAC Highway, continuation of line marking works and preparation for traffic signal works.

       Traffic Restrictions (from 9am Friday 7th November until the traffic switch
       occurs on Sunday 9th November)

  • One lane of traffic will be closed on ANZAC Highway heading to the city from Selby Street to Waltham Street
  • One right turn lane from South Road onto ANZAC Highway heading to the city will be closed
  • The north-bound entry ramp on the north-western side of the intersection (near Emergency Vet) will be closed. Traffic will be able to turn left onto South Road from ANZAC Highway at the signalised intersection
  • Temporary lane closures will also be in place on ANZAC Highway heading to Glenelg from Berkley Ave to Grosvenor St during non-peak periods on Friday.


  • Saturday 8th November from 6am to 4.30pm – Traffic management from 6am in preparation for asphalt, profiling works, line marking and traffic signal works from 7am.

        Traffic Restrictions

  • Two northbound lanes on South Road near the intersection will be closed from Hale Street to Tyson Street. One northbound through lane and one right turn lane from South Road onto ANZAC Highway heading towards the city will be operational.
  • Two southbound lanes on South Road and one right turn lane onto ANZAC Highway heading towards Glenelg will be operational.
  • Two lanes in both directions on ANZAC Highway will be operational, except during line marking works where traffic may be reduced to one lane.



  • Sunday 9th November from 7.00am to completion – old line marking removal and new line marking on ANZAC Highway with traffic moved to new final alignment when completed.

       Please also note: Pedestrian access on the northern side of ANZAC Highway
       will be re-opened including access across South Road at the traffic signals.

       Traffic Restrictions

  • Traffic restrictions in place since Friday will gradually be lifted and traffic lanes re-opened to traffic on a progressive basis when it is safe to do so and to coordinate with the line marking works.

25 kph speed limits will apply in this location for the entire duration of works. Motorists are asked to take extra care while travelling through the intersection as these works are undertaken.

Following the works on the weekend minor works on ANZAC Highway to complete kerbing, driveways and footpaths will continue over the next couple of weeks until all ANZAC Highway works are completed.

Three lanes of traffic and a cycle lane in both directions on ANZAC Highway are expected to be in operation before the end of the year.
