MAJOR ROAD WORKS ON SOUTH ROAD BETWEEN HARE STREET AND BASNETT STREET KURRALTA PARK

AdelaideConnect wishes to advise the public that major road works to tie-in the northern end of the underpass entry ramp will take place from Friday 20 February to Monday 23 February 2009.

TYPE AND TIMES OF WORK

From 6pm Friday 20 February through to 6am Monday 23 February works will take place around the clock on South Road between Hare and Basnett Streets.  

Profiling works will predominantly take place on Friday night, with asphalt works occurring on Saturday and Sunday and final line marking occurring on Sunday evening. Temporary lighting will be installed on South Road during all night works.

Residents living on or near South Road in the location of the works may experience some noise disturbance at times, while works are in progress. AdelaideConnect will manage these works to minimise the impacts on local residents as much as possible.  Once these works are completed, no further major road works along South Road in this location will take place. 

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

While works are in progress, all traffic will be shifted over to the eastern side of South Road and reduced to one lane in each direction between Everard and Barwell Avenues and ANZAC Highway.

Variable message signage will be in place to alert motorists of the changed traffic conditions and traffic controllers will also be on site to assist motorists when required. A reduced speed limit of 25 kph will apply around the works area.

Buses on South Road will stop close to / adjacent to current bus stops in these locations when works are in progress.

Emergency Services and the City of West Torrens have been advised of these works and temporary changes to traffic arrangements.

ACCESS RESTRICTIONS

• The northbound slip lane from ANZAC Highway to South Road will be closed. Traffic will be able to turn onto South Road at the traffic signalised intersection only.

• Tennyson Street at the South Road end will be CLOSED

• Hare Street  at the South Road end will be LEFT OUT ONLY

• Marleston Street will be LEFT IN AND LEFT OUT ONLY

• Alexander Avenue will be LEFT IN AND LEFT OUT  ONLY

• Herbert Road will be LEFT OUT ONLY

Detour signage will be in place at the:

• north-western side of South Road directing traffic away from Tennyson Street towards Barwell Avenue and the traffic signalised intersection to gain access onto South Road in both directions.

• north-eastern side of South Road directing Ashford residents to Everard Avenue and the traffic signalised intersection as the nearest access point to make right hand turns onto South Road. Left turn movements from Everard Avenue onto South Road will be provided as normal.

Once these works are completed no further road works on ANZAC Highway as part of this project are envisaged. We thank residents for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience or temporary disturbance these works may cause.
