ACCESS CHANGES TO HERBERT ROAD ASHFORD

AdelaideConnect wishes to advise the public of the following important information:

1. Herbert Road will be temporarily closed on Wednesday 11 February 9am to 11am for road works. Access into and out of South Road from Herbert Road will not be permitted between these times. Local traffic will be required to use Alexander Avenue as an alternative access road to South Road while the works are in progress.

2. The final access arrangements to Herbert Road, Ashford will change from Friday 13 February 2009.

The final design for the South Road Upgrade / ANZAC Highway Underpass project that has been widely publicised in past Community Updates shows access to Herbert Road at the South Road end, as a LEFT OUT only movement.

With the Underpass due to open at the end of March 2009 and ‘tie-in’ works to allow entry into the Underpass on South Road to be completed in coming weeks, the final access arrangements for Herbert Road will be implemented on Friday 13 February 2009.

While left out movements will be allowed, left turns into Herbert Road from South Road will no longer be permitted from Friday 13 February 2009. These access changes have been made to ensure safe operating conditions on South Road when the Underpass is operational. The closest access into Herbert Road from South Road will now be via Alexander Avenue.

Variable Message signage at the entrance of Herbert Road (off South Road) will be in place from 7 February 2009 to alert motorists and local residents of the new access arrangements to be implemented for Herbert Road from Friday 13 February 2009. Emergency Services have also been notified of the new access arrangements.

We wish to thank local residents for their understanding that this change has been made in the interest of resident and motorist safety. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
